About Us

At A Long & Strong Life in Harleysville, PA, we deliver personalized, physician-led care designed to help you feel strong, energized, and functional — now and for decades to come.

Here, your care is guided directly by your doctor at every step. Whether we meet in person, virtually, or through our secure patient portal, you’ll never be handed off to assistants or rushed through short visits. We take the time to listen fully, review your complete health picture, and build a plan that supports your long-term vitality. Our approach is precision medicine - because individual variability matters. We personalize diagnostics and therapies to you.

Our practice specializes in longevity medicine and preventative health, using science-backed testing to help you stay ahead of age-related decline. Too often, the traditional medical system focuses on treating illness after it appears—a model we refer to as sick care. At A Long & Strong Life, we believe in true health care: proactive, personalized support that helps you stay healthy, strong, and independent for years to come.

This philosophy is rooted in the distinction between lifespan and healthspan. Lifespan is how long you live—healthspan is how well you live. We don’t just aim to extend your years; we help you extend your quality of life within those years. By addressing strength, metabolic function, inflammation, and mobility early and often, we work to shift the curve upward—so you thrive longer, not just live longer.

A graph illustrating the concept of lifespan and healthspan. The y-axis represents healthspan from poor to optimal, and the x-axis represents life stages from childhood to advanced age. The graph shows that healthspan remains steady during early and middle age, then declines in advanced age, with the goal of extending healthy years in good health.

Lifespan vs. Healthspan: A reminder that the goal isn’t just more years—but more good years.

We offer advanced assessments — including VO2 max testing, resting metabolic rate (RMR) analysis, InBody composition analysis, mobility and grip strength testing, and personalized bloodwork reviews — to get a true understanding of how your body is functioning.

With flexible membership options, we combine in-person assessments with the option of convenient virtual follow-ups to fit your lifestyle. Whether you’re looking to boost energy, improve strength, prevent chronic disease, or simply stay active as you age, we’re here to help you take control of your health — for the long run.

Comprehensive Testing

VO2 max testing measures your body’s ability to efficiently use oxygen during exercise, providing a crucial indicator of cardiovascular fitness, endurance, and longevity. Using advanced, physician-guided technology, we assess how well your body performs under physical stress—revealing not only your VO2 max, but also personalized training zones to guide optimal intensity levels. As one of the strongest predictors of life expectancy—and a metric you can actively improve—VO2 max testing empowers you to personalize your training, optimize performance, and support long-term health goals.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing accurately measures how many calories your body burns at rest. Using precise, non-invasive technology, we assess your metabolism to gain a deeper understanding of how your body uses energy. Unlike estimates or generic calculators, RMR testing provides real, personalized data—eliminating guesswork and allowing you to set effective, targeted caloric goals. These insights help tailor nutrition plans, weight management strategies, and long-term health optimization to your unique physiology.

The InBody composition analysis delivers a detailed, non-invasive, radiation-free analysis of your body composition in just 60 seconds. It precisely measures muscle mass, body fat, visceral fat, and water distribution—providing insights that go far beyond a traditional scale. This comprehensive data helps guide your personalized care plan, track your progress accurately over time, and identify key health risks like inflammation and metabolic imbalance.

Additional Services for Long & Strong Members

At A Long & Strong Life, we look at your full picture of health — not just isolated metrics. In addition to VO2 max, RMR, and body composition analysis, we offer a range of physician-led assessments that help you stay strong, mobile, and energized as you age.

Meet Dr. Watson:

Hi, I’m Dr. Dotti Watson — a triple board-certified (Internal Medicine, Pulmonary & Critical Care) physician based in Harleysville, PA. I’m also a Level 1 certified CrossFit coach with a deep passion for fitness, movement, and helping people take control of their long-term health.

15 Years in Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine

For over 15 years, I’ve cared for some of the sickest patients in the ICU. Many were not that old but were suffering — and sometimes dying — from chronic, preventable diseases. This reality was frustrating and heartbreaking. It became clear to me that waiting to treat illness was not enough; we need to focus on prevention and building resilience early to help people live longer, healthier lives.

From Treating Illness to Preventing It

That experience inspired a shift in my career—toward helping people build physical and metabolic resilience before illness strikes. Through advanced, physician-guided testing and personalized lifestyle plans, my goal is to support optimal aging and long-term vitality. I partner with each patient to create personalized plans that fit their unique needs and goals, ensuring care that is as individual as you are.

The Science of Lifestyle Medicine

I’m especially passionate about epigenetics—the science of how our environment, exercise, and nutrition influence how our genes are expressed. While our genetics matter, we now know that how we live plays a powerful role in preventing chronic disease and promoting longevity.

That’s why our work focuses on the core pillars of lifestyle medicine: nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, social connection, and avoiding harmful substances. These evidence-based foundations allow us to create sustainable, personalized strategies that support your body at every level.

As someone who loves CrossFit, I know firsthand how movement can empower and energize every other aspect of well-being.

A Mission Inspired by Family

My interest in prevention became deeply personal when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. There’s no cure, but research shows that healthy lifestyle changes can help delay or reduce the risk of its onset. This journey strengthened my commitment to guiding others in protecting their health and independence for as long as possible.

Life Beyond the Clinic

I’m a wife to an emergency medicine physician, mom to three amazing daughters (and a spirited Maltipoo), and someone who thrives on movement and the outdoors. I love running, hiking, boating, and traveling—and I bring that same energy and balance into how I care for my patients.

Helping You Live Long and Strong

My mission is simple: to help people live not just longer, but stronger, healthier lives—with energy, independence, and purpose. I want that for myself, my family, and every patient I work with.
